Format Conversion

The form only accepts JPG. Your PNG is transparent — will it turn black?

A portal replies “JPG only,” or the file just fails. You hold a logo, a cutout, or a screenshot saved as a transparent PNG. The checkerboard holes go black on upload — or the system refuses the extension. The question is whether to convert, what to put under the hole, and whether you can do a whole folder at once.

The form only accepts JPG. You hold a logo, a cutout, or a screenshot saved as a transparent PNG. You upload it and the checkerboard holes turn black — or the system just rejects the file. The refusal is about the extension and the alpha channel, not a broken photo.

Three contrasts: convert or keep PNG, fill white or fill black, batch or one file

The portal rarely spells out all three. Line up what you just tried with what the field is actually checking, then convert.

What you are deciding Do the left first Do not start on the right
Convert to JPG, or keep the PNG The field says JPG / JPEG only, or the upload fails on .png. Convert. The hole is not a feature they want. Stickers, overlays, or design files that still need a hole. Those stay PNG. Forcing JPG there only paints a plate under the cutout.
Fill white, or fill black Forms, résumés, and ID-style uploads almost always expect a white ground. Image8K paints white under transparent pixels before it drops alpha, so the checkerboard does not become a black slab. A random converter that dumps leftover alpha as black. Only fill black if the product is meant to sit on a dark plate. Guessing black is why the upload “looks dirty.”
A whole folder, or one file at a time Open Convert Format. It can batch: drop many PNGs, pick JPG, download a zip. Treating it like crop or redact — those tools are one image. Conversion is the batch step. Keep each file at or under 20MB.

Format conversion can run as a batch. Keep each file at or under 20MB. Fill white first, then convert. iPhone .heic is a different path — not this page.

One PNG or a whole folder: fill white, then export JPG

Open Convert Format on Image8K. Decode and export stay in this browser; the PNG is never uploaded. Several files can share one pass — that is the point of this tool.

  1. Drop the PNG — or several. Each file at or under 20MB. If it is still iPhone .heic and the page will not open, that is not this article: follow the HEIC to JPG guide first.
  2. Set the target to JPG. The default quality is usually enough. Drag it down only if a later size cap is already on the page.
  3. Check the white underlay. Transparent pixels should sit on white, not black. If you still need a clean cutout from a messy original, use Remove Background first — then convert that PNG so the form gets a white JPG.
  4. Convert and download. One file goes straight to disk; many files can pack as a zip. Preview the edges before you send.

Convert PNG to JPG locally

Converted — what else can still block the upload

The backend still caps KB: follow the compress-to-target-KB guide after you convert — do not crush the original PNG and hope the checkerboard survives. They want a 1-inch or 1:1 face: crop first with the ID-photo crop guide, then convert if the export is still PNG.

They want one PDF, not a pile of JPGs: use the merge-to-one-PDF guide. The shop actually wanted a white product shot from a bedroom wall: that walkthrough is the white-background guide — convert is the last mile, not the cutout.

Image8K converts in the browser. Logos, cutouts, and form photos stay on this device. There is no “upload first, convert later.”

What “JPG only” usually misses

The form wants JPG: convert. Fill white first so the hole does not turn black. Batch is fine; each file at or under 20MB. HEIC is another article. Image8K does it in the browser. Nothing is uploaded.

About converting PNG to JPG

Will a transparent PNG turn black when I convert it to JPG?

It can — JPG has no alpha channel, so leftover transparent pixels often render as black. Forms almost always want a white ground. Image8K paints white under the hole before export, so the checkerboard does not become a black slab. Only fill black if the product is meant to sit on a dark plate.

Can I convert many PNGs to JPG at once?

Yes. Convert Format supports a batch: select several files, pick JPG, then download one by one or as a zip. Keep each file at or under 20MB. Crop and redact stay one-at-a-time; conversion does not.

The file is still HEIC from an iPhone. Is that the same step?

No. HEIC is a different decode path. Convert it with the HEIC to JPG guide first. This page is for PNG — especially a transparent one — that a form will not take.

Are the originals uploaded to a server?

No. Image8K converts in your browser. Logos, cutouts, and form photos stay on the device. There is no “upload first, convert later.”
